We are a group of enthusiastic woodturners (and some woodworkers)
from the area surrounding Bristol and Bath.
We meet once a month to exchange ideas, share techniques and to
enjoy wood. The club is affiliated to the Association of Woodturners
of Great Britain and shares the aims and objectives of the association.
We can now be found at St Theresa's Catholic Church, Gloucester Road North (A 38) Filton Bristol, on the third Thursday of each month. There is a large car park and is situated a few hundred yards from the Filton roundabout on the A4174 ring road.
Meetings begin at 19:30 and usually comprise a guest speaker/demonstrator,
a project/competition, raffle and people willing to show and talk
about their work as well as help each other.
There is a substantial, up to date library of books and videos,
available for members to hire. There is a bar in the adjacent room.
Several times a year, seminars are organised involving well-known
professional turners.
We are lucky enough to have the use of a member's workshop at Portishead for
tuition and practice with as many as 20 lathes available, usually
on a Tuesday & Wednesday and some Saturday's and for Demonstrations by well known turners. Tuition ranges from the novice to sessions
for demonstrators, the latter supports our presence at local, and major
exhibitions every year.

Festival of the Tree at Westonbirt Arboretum will be 22nd--25th August.
A Youth Training Weekend is planned for 25th and 26th April 2009 at our workshop in
Portishead, Bristol details will be given at a later date regarding this opportunity for
young people to learn Turning skills from experienced tutors.
INVITATION Should there be any members of AWGB who are not members of our club who wish to come and participate in our Portishead seminars they will be very welcome. This is an all day program for which we make a charge of £12 per head including refreshments, TEA COFFEE AND BISCUITS. Should anyone NOT a member of AWGB wish to attend they will NOT be covered by insurance as we as members are covered at organised meetings. Any one not a member of our club will be asked to pay an additional £3.
